56m
Step into the future of infrastructure modernization with VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0, the next evolution of VCF. In this session, Broadcom’s Sabina Anja will walk you through new innovations that will redefine how your private cloud operates. Explore features in lifecycle management, fleet management, virtual private cloud networking, and hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) storage. Discover how these advancements will simplify deployment, streamline operational efficiency, and elevate infrastructure performance. Gain insights into the strategic implications of enhanced capabilities and learn how they empower your organization to build and manage a resilient, future-ready private cloud infrastructure.
Sabina Anja, a Senior Technical Product Lead at Broadcom, introduced VMware Cloud Foundation 9 (VCF9) at the Tech Field Day event. She highlighted that VCF9 is a unified platform for containers and virtual machines, featuring built-in automation and simplified day-to-day operations. VCF9 can be deployed on-premises, in partner clouds, or in smaller remote locations to deliver solutions and applications. The key benefits of the platform include increased revenue potential, proactive issue mitigation, minimized downtime, and reduced IT costs through enhanced visibility and utilization insights.
Anja further detailed significant changes in VCF9, emphasizing its shift from managing individual IT components to viewing the IT environment as a continuous delivery platform. VCF9 integrates vSphere, vSAN, and VCF networking to provide VMs with all necessary resources, along with adjacent services like capacity management and multi-tenancy. The platform also introduces a user-friendly service catalog and orchestration capabilities for easy infrastructure and application deployment. Advanced services like private AI, security, and ransomware recovery enhance the VCF experience.
Key innovations in VCF9 include a unified interface for private cloud operations and automation, feature parity for VMs and containers, built-in security, and cost control. Specific innovations mentioned were memory tiering with NVMe, global D-DOOP for lower storage TCO, enhanced switching performance via kernel optimization, near bare metal inference performance for ML workloads, and vMotion for vGPU-enabled workloads for AI. Anja also discussed different use cases for VCF9, including infrastructure modernization, optimized infrastructure and operations, and extended hybrid cloud capabilities with Kubernetes readiness and private AI support.
