In 2021, global M&A volumes reached $5.9 trillion in value, a 64% increase over 2020, according to Refinitiv. Companies are more frequently turning to growth through acquisition as a strategic pillar for business transformation, and those in the cloud technology space are strategically leveraging M&A to outpace accelerated innovation. One such company, NetApp, a global cloud-led data-centric software company that helps organizations accelerate digital transformation, recently announced its fifth acquisition in the last two years. The recent string of strategic moves along with embracing and partnering with hyperscalers such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud have underpinned the company’s pivot to a successful cloud-focused business model. This strategy has enabled NetApp to thrive as the company aggressively builds towards a $2 billion ARR cloud business. NetApp recently reported another strong quarter as its Hybrid Cloud segment revenue reached $1.56 billion.
